Dubai Police Arrest Organised Begging Gang Targeting Drivers

• The operation began with a tip-off submitted through the Police Eye service on the Dubai Police app, after residents reported people stopping drivers and asking for money.

• The individuals were reportedly telling drivers they were stranded and needed money for travel expenses. Following the report, field teams began investigating and managed to identify one of the suspects and track his movements.

• The gang was operating in areas including Al Khor Street, Ras Al Khor, the Bu Kadra Bridge area and the Dubai-Al Ain Road bridge. Members would approach drivers and appeal to their sympathy by claiming they needed money to get to their destination.

• After surveillance and information gathering, Dubai Police put a security plan in place, which led to the arrest of all 22 members. The necessary legal action is now being taken against them.
