🤖 A UAE Mother Wants ChatGPT Written Into Her Will To Help Raise Her Son

  • A UAE mother is exploring an unusual way to preserve her parenting wishes for her son if she passes away while he is still young, with ChatGPT potentially playing a role in his future upbringing.

  • The mother is preparing a proposed will that would ask her son’s future guardians to consult ChatGPT when making major decisions about his life, using a written record of her values, beliefs and hopes for his future.

  • Under the proposed framework, guardians would consult ChatGPT on significant decisions involving his education, where he lives, non-urgent medical treatment, religious upbringing and contact with his mother’s family.

  • They would provide the AI with a written record of her parenting philosophy and relevant details about each situation.

  • For now, the idea raises a question about how parents can preserve their guidance for their children when they cannot be there to answer every question themselves.

  • In this case, the proposed answer is to combine a mother’s recorded wishes with AI assistance, while keeping responsibility firmly with the people raising her son.
