A Man Got Dumped By His Girlfriend After The Daily Dubai Commute Drained Him

• One man shared on Reddit how adjusting to long work commutes and busy routines slowly affected his relationship, and honestly, a lot of residents could relate to the feeling of being completely drained after a long day on the road.

• The man explained that he and his long-distance girlfriend had actually survived living in completely different countries before he moved to Dubai for work.

• But once he relocated, the daily routine started taking a toll. Between work and commuting, he said he became “a desolate, reclusive, bitter human” and often came home too drained to properly reply to messages or take calls.

• He described the daily drive as endless honking, impatient drivers, lane switching and bumper-to-bumper traffic that left him mentally exhausted before even reaching home.

• The exhaustion eventually started affecting his relationship too. He admitted he forgot important dates, became avoidant, and would sometimes lie in complete darkness for an hour after getting home just to mentally recover from the day.

• “I lost her because I was too tired to text ‘I’m okay, just stressed from traffic,’” he wrote.

• The post sparked conversations online about burnout, work-life balance and how easy it is to unintentionally neglect personal relationships while adjusting to demanding routines.
