• While some believe every creator deserves to be compensated for their time and content, others argue that not every invitation comes with a paycheck.

• Dubai influencer Jessica Jazela says event invites aren’t always paid work.

• Dubai-based content creator Jessica Jazela shared her thoughts in a video that’s been making the rounds online, saying influencers with 10K–20K followers shouldn’t expect major brands to pay them simply to attend an event.

• She explained that if a brand invites a creator to a well-organised event, offers a good experience and even sends them home with a goodie bag, expecting payment just for showing up can come across as “ungrateful.”

• However, she made it clear that her opinion changes when there’s actual deliverable-based work involved.

• If a brand provides a detailed brief requiring creators to produce specific content, such as Instagram posts, Reels or Stories, then creators should absolutely be compensated for their time, creativity and effort.
