Dubai Caught A Passenger Trying To Smuggle 460g Of Melted Gold

• Dubai Customs has foiled a sophisticated attempt to smuggle nearly half a kilogram of pure gold into the UAE 🇦🇪

• The gold had been melted into thin rods and cleverly hidden inside the frame of a travel suitcase in an effort to avoid detection. The incident also comes with an important reminder for anyone travelling: always know exactly what’s inside the luggage you’re carrying 👀

• Dubai Customs revealed the details of the operation on Thursday, August 6, explaining that the smugglers had melted 460 grams of 24-karat gold into thin rods before concealing them inside the suitcase frame 🧳

• Despite the elaborate hiding method, customs inspectors successfully discovered and seized the gold. The authority said the seizure reflects the high level of readiness of its inspection teams and their ability to detect even the most sophisticated concealment methods 🫡

• It also highlighted Dubai Customs’ continued investment in advanced inspection technology and the training of its officers to strengthen border security ✈️

Property Finder's Survey Shows Demand Remains Resilient Despite Regional Tensions 🏡

Regional tensions may have shaken buyer confidence earlier this year, but they haven't stopped people from planning their next property purchase.

Property Finder's latest Market Pulse found that 66% of respondents in the UAE still plan to buy a home within the next six months, showing demand has remained remarkably resilient despite months of uncertainty.

What's changed isn't buyers' appetite... it's their expectations

At the height of the uncertainty, more than 70% of respondents expected property prices to fall. By June, that figure had dropped to 56%, the lowest level since the conflict began, suggesting buyers are becoming more realistic about where the market is headed.

Meanwhile, sellers have largely held firm, with asking prices sitting only around 2% below pre-conflict levels. As both sides move closer on pricing, the gap between buyer expectations and seller asking prices is beginning to narrow.

Some would-be buyers are also choosing to rent while they wait, with new rental activity picking up in May as more residents opted to move into new homes rather than renew their existing leases.
