A 9-Year-Old Asked Her Mum Why Sportswear Is Allowed For Mall Runs But Not Shopping
The Dubai mum and her 9-year-old daughter joined their very first Mallathon run together, enjoying a morning of fitness and family time.
But after the race, while they were walking through the mall, her daughter noticed something and asked: “Mum, why are people allowed to wear a sports bra and shorts when they’re running in the mall, but not when they’re shopping in the mall?”
The question caught her mum off guard. “I’ll be honest… I wasn’t quite sure how to answer,” she shared.
But the innocent observation got her thinking about something bigger… how fitness events, everyday shopping trips and public spaces can sometimes have different expectations.
The mum said one thing she has always appreciated about the UAE is the emphasis on dressing respectfully in public.
