Several Indian Residents Queued Up At The UAE Embassy For Their Passport Applications

  • Passport, visa and attestation services for indians living in the UAE were suspended for a few days until July 1, as consular services were switching to a new service provider - from BLS International to Al Hind Tours and Travel LLC.

  • However, the scheduled launch by Alhind Tours and Travels LLC on July 1 was delayed.

  • For the first time since 2009, hundreds of Indian expats queued up without appointments at their embassy and consulate yesterday to submit passport applications in person.

  • Both The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai opened their doors for walk-in appointments, with a first-come-first-serve basis from 9am-12.30pm from July 2.

  • Nri’s queuing on Thursday were also among the first to pay India's revised passport fees, which went to effect on July 1 (A regular renewal now costs AED450, almost 60% jump from the initial price of AED285). many community members have also reached out to the Ministry of

  • External Affairs with requests to revise the fee and offer a 50% reduction.
