UAE Announces Removal Of Forces And End Of Counter-Terrorism Operations In Yemen

• Following a recent strike at the Yemeni port by Saudi forces, the UAE has cleared the air around the allegations of weapon shipment and announced the removal of its counter-terrorism forces "in a manner that ensures the safety of its personnel and in coordination with the relevant partners."

• The Ministry of Defence noted that the UAE Armed Forces concluded their military presence in Yemen in 2019, and the remaining presence was limited to specialised personnel as part of counterterrorism efforts.

• The UAE firmly rejected claims of involvement that would compromise the security of Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed its support for the kingdom’s efforts.

• UAE’s presence in Yemen was very much within the framework of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition, but with ongoing developments, they announced their decision to remove the UAE forces from Yemen.
